2024 WOMAN OF GOLD
As a senior woman in my community, I have much experience, knowledge, opinions and skills to share.
I was an only child and my father and mother always supported me to do what I wanted and have a go.
This attitude my husband and I passed onto our daughter and son and they have achieved a lot in their lives with more goals to achieve.
I have seen many positive changes take place in my lifetime, but inequalities, stereotypes and discrimination persist. I remember in the 1980s talk of inequality of pay in the workforce was a strong issue and I am amazed that it still such an issue in the 2020s.
Following on from my career as a stay at home mum and freelance writer I went to university to study photography when I was 46 and never experienced negative comments as a female; I always felt I was a human first.
In fact the return to university has been incredibly life affirming.
I now create beautiful art that explores the fragility of ALL humanity.
