Artist Statement
Heart of Gold draws inspiration from the vibrant wings of a butterfly and evocative Rorschach ink blots, elements that serve as poignant symbols, reflecting the universally shared metamorphosis of motherhood. The amalgamation of these visual motifs with a personalized illustration of myself and my daughter intimately shares my own experience, but also strives to encapsulate a broader truth: while each woman has unique life experiences, there exists a bond forged through the shared journey of motherhood.
Bio
I am an eclectic artist and mother based in Bendigo. I am passionate about creating art in many different forms and currently on the pathway to becoming an art therapist. Painting, drawing, mixed media, collage, photography, graphic design, sculpture, and digital art are amongst my passions.
I strongly advocate for women and children and their experience with Family Violence and Domestic Violence due to my own personal story, so I am currently gaining qualifications to work within these sectors, with the goal of using my creativity as a therapeutic tool and provide support to others as they navigate their path toward healing.
I am a committee member of Bendigo Artists Inc, a contributing artist at The Avenue Studios and can sometimes be seen teaching a painting session at Pinot & Picasso Bendigo. I am always keen to be part of local art projects, events, and exhibitions.
“Motherhood changes you in so many ways. Your role shifts in the world and you find a new and powerful strength inside you.”
