Michelle McGoldrick

2024 WOMAN OF GOLD

I am a fifth generation descendant of stoic and courageous women who came to Bendigo circa 1880. During Bendigo’s gold rush, women’s contributions were confined to traditional roles. Bendigo women are now increasingly recognised as natural leaders and mentors in our communities, and we are rising to meet the opportunities and challenges of a changing climate and environment.

“My passion is social advocacy and climate activism, and my leadership in building a local climate art network underpins gender equity as a fundamental human right where women can take active, equal and respected leadership roles into the future.”

- Michelle McGoldrick
