2024 WOMAN OF GOLD
Like most women, throughout my personal and professional life, I have felt waves of sexism.
Women are still underpaid in Australia. We are too often undermined and belittled in the professional workplace. By having policy that is created by women, we can start to shift this narrative. Young voices are not the leaders of tomorrow, we are the leaders of today.
When young women are directly involved in creating and influencing policy, their unique perspectives, experiences, and voices enrich the decision-making process, leading to more inclusive and effective outcomes for all members of society.
In 2024, I am honoured to be the Youth Mayor for the City of Greater Bendigo Youth Council, with four of the six leadership opportunities being filled by women.
I am proud of the representation of young women on the Youth Council, as they learn a system of empowerment and are supported and enabled to make the most of life’s opportunities.
“Young voices are not the leaders of tomorrow, we are the leaders of today.”
