2024 WOMAN OF GOLD
Zonta is a leading global human rights organisation building a better world for women and girls through service and advocacy. Zonta envisions a world in which women's rights are recognised as human rights, where every woman can achieve her full potential, and where no woman lives in fear of violence. The Bendigo Club was founded on the 30th November 1980.
Bendigo Zonta provides an annual STEM Scholarship to encourage greater female participation of girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Our Club currently provides funds to support Grade 6 girls to attend a monthly STEM focused program at the Discovery Science & Technology Centre in Bendigo. The program also gives the girls a chance to learn leadership and communication skills. To consolidate this learning, we provide each girl with an annual Family Discovery membership.
Our Club participates in the UN 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence campaign. The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign.
The Zonta Club of Bendigo's annual International Women’s Day Dinner is a popular Bendigo event, the IWD dinner brings together the Greater Bendigo community to celebrate the achievements and efforts of women and girls making an impact in their community.
“Zonta Club of Bendigo is a member of an International human rights organisation working to improve the lives of women and girls worldwide".
