2024 WOMAN OF GOLD
I was the first women elected as the MP for Bendigo West in the Victorian Parliament back in 2010 – and am currently only the fourth woman to be Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. But that’s just one part of who I am.
I’m a mother of four, a stepmother to two grownup children, a grandmother of eleven, have been a carer for my late husband, love playing the piano – and am a proud girl from Maryborough.
Women take on so many extraordinary roles in our community, often unrecognised and underappreciated. They just do it – and in doing so, make a huge difference, every single day.
Whilst we’ve come a long way in the fight for gender equity, there’s still much all of us need to do.
