Kate Mannix
2024 WOMAN OF GOLD
After completing my Bachelor of Business (Asia Pacific Studies) at La Trobe University Bendigo I commenced working at Price Waterhouse, now PwC, followed by Blockbuster Australia and now AFS & Associates back in Bendigo.
Over this time I have held varying levels of non-management and management roles including the now CEO role at AFS.
I have been privileged to work with a vast variety of mentors, both male and female who have supported my self driven growth and helped navigate my goals.
With three children and a small building business my husband, Gerard and I also run, I have had to be my biggest champion at times and others looked for external support and validation of my strengths and talents to continue to create and take opportunities, break stereotypes and biases.
With women accounting for only 22% of CEO roles per the 2022/23 WGEA report I feel privileged to experience such a role and have an opportunity to mentor, encourage, create networks and model for others what’s possible, bringing more diversity and women into such leadership positions.
We must continue to educate, speak up, influence and advocate for fairness and equality in our networks, communities and organisations, dismantling barriers and creating a level playing field for all.
“We must work toward removing judgement and barriers for all to be included in, and experience, equity.”
