Alise Amarant

2024 WOMAN OF GOLD

A dedicated advocate for women's empowerment, Alise Amarant has spent her career breaking barriers and championing gender equality.

Hailing from a small rural town, she defied expectations by pursuing a science and education degree in Melbourne.

Her journey led her to establish Props Theatre in Bendigo, where she passionately uses the arts to amplify women's voices.

As a mother, Alise applies her commitment to progress, ensuring her children grow up with both the opportunities she had and those beyond. In navigating the challenges of the modern world, including evolving gender norms and the digital landscape, she remains a steadfast guide for her family and community.

In her role as the driving force behind Props Theatre, Alise has created a platform for future women and men to express themselves, challenging societal norms and fostering dialogue on issues that matter. Her work extends beyond the stage, contributing to a larger narrative of individual empowerment and inclusivity.

A firm believer that the strength of a community lies in the upliftment of its unique voice, Alise continues to inspire and shape the next generation, leaving an indelible mark on the journey toward a more equitable and empowered society.

Background:

  • Company Director of Props Theatre

  • Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry and Genetics) and Education (P – 12), Latrobe University

“In this intricate dance of existence, I hope for an evolution—a time when we evolve for the better. Along this transformative journey, let us, as humans, embrace the liberating power of 'no,' challenge the notion of 'not good enough,' and unapologetically declare 'fuck off' when necessary.

It's in these moments of assertion that we reclaim our autonomy, pushing against the constraints that threaten to define us. May our collective evolution be guided by resilience, authenticity, and an unwavering commitment to shaping a world where every thread in the human tapestry is celebrated for its unique and valuable contribution."
